Yard Trim Drop-Off Sites

The Harford Mulch & Compost Facility and the Tollgate Residential Yard Trim Acceptance Facility will be closed Friday, July 3rd and Saturday, July 4th in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

Yard trim is grass clippings, leaves, garden waste, brush, and branches (see below for lists acceptable and unacceptable materials). Harford County processes yard trim into mulch and compost year-round, which is available for purchase while quantities last. Harford County residents may also self-load up to the equivalent of three 30-gallon containers of mulch and/or compost, when available, at no cost. For more information on mulch and compost, including availability, visit the Mulch and Compost Facility page under Harford Waste Disposal Center.

YARD TRIM IS NOT ACCEPTED IN PLASTIC BAGS

Plastic bags are difficult and costly to remove from yard trim as we process it into mulch and compost. Eliminating plastic bags for drop-off will help us make better products, save taxpayers’ money and protect our environment.

Yard trim can be dropped off loose, in bundles, in paper bags or cardboard boxes, or emptied from reusable containers such as trash cans, totes, or plastic bags. For customers with curbside pickup, please contact your hauler as their requirements may vary.

Disposal is for residents only, no contractors are permitted; trailers may not exceed 12 feet long.
